What is The Buddhist Flutist®?

The Buddhist Flutist® is neither a religious entity, nor a musician or any one individual. It is aimed at fostering, identifying and promoting philosophical and scientific thinking that enhances mindfulness, self-awareness, and understanding the importance of not only “living in the moment;” but, also “loving in the moment.” Our lifespan is relatively very short and The Buddhist Flutist® is here to help individuals make their lives more enjoyable and productive. We hope that this process can start simply with a smile.

A Buddhist Flutist is a person who knows how to lovingly and compassionately
“Play life in the key of HEART™”.

Abbe Krieger marketed and promoted Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and The New York Chamber Symphony before becoming a full-time musician,  mindfulness-music educator and Founder/President of The Buddhist Flutist®.

Ms. Krieger began studying the flute at the age of eight and, several years later, after competing in the New Jersey All-State auditions, she became number one in her state. Soon after she met her longtime teacher and mentor Julius Baker and began studying at The Juilliard School after which she was awarded scholarships to Brandeis University (B.A.) and Carnegie Mellon University (M.M.).

Ms. Krieger has given recital performances at venues including Bechstein Piano Center, Weill Recital Hall and Klavierhaus. As a chamber musician and orchestral player, her appearances have included Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, Paul Hall, and the Peter Jay Sharp Theater as well as music festivals including Bowdoin, Chautauqua, Tanglewood and Saarburg.

For the past 20 years, Ms. Krieger has studied Mindfulness and Buddhist philosophy and science of mind. She has attended many of HH Dalai Lama’s teachings, as well as workshops and retreats with such esteemed figures as Pema Chodron, Robert Thurman, and Lama Surya Das in venues such as the Tibet House, Karma Choling, Shambhala, and the Garrison Institute.  In several of these instances, she has served as an assistant mindfulness instructor, providing guidance and direction to beginning meditators and helping them focus. Also, she created the “Mindful Fluter™” which has been presented at Keith Underwood’s Masterclass at the Hidden Valley Music Festival. Ms. Krieger teaches and coaches in NYC. She and her team at The Buddhist Flutist® give workshops both locally and nationwide.
